Post Election

OK, here's my theory, for what it's worth.

People get all flummoxed about what Trump will do if he loses the election. He's once again succeeded in playing the lamebrains in major media. "He won't commit to accepting the results of the election." Of course he won't! Every time he says he won't, he gets front page news and he stays in the limelight. He loves nothing more, and the coverage makes it look like what happens after the election doesn't depend on the vote but rather his whim. He loves that. It puts him at the center of things; it makes it seem that the entire fate of the country rests in his hands. That's exactly what he wants; he loves it. Not only that, but after would Biden win, at lest half the spotlight will not be on Joe, but on the Donald. People will be breathless awaiting word from him whether the election will be "valid." So pay him no heed; don't play his game. As Biden said a while ago, the government knows what to do with squatters on public property.

Special Anniversary Supplement!

Anniversary

Today is our anniversary!  David and I moved in together on this day in 1992.  That's 28 wonderful years of  excitement, accomplishment, adventure, the occasional trial, but mostly just plain fun.  5 years since the goverment recognized that this all was really quite a good idea.  Love you Sweetie!

Voting

Scenes from early voting at the Mount Vernon District Government Center.

Our thoughtful county district supervisor provided water, snacks, and Halloween trinkets to the voters.

ca. 2 hours away

ca. 1 hour away

ca. 30 minutes away

It's Northern Virginia. The GOP lady has a quiet and lonely day.

2 hours and 20 minutes later, success; with some 10 poll workers all busier than a one-armed paper hanger.  Mementos provided, once again, by the supervisor.

I voted!

Civic Duty

Hot Diggity!  We are voting today.  I have never before had this degree of pleasure in casting a ballot.

A Piece of Very Good Common Sense

Found today on a blog I follow.  It's the most sensible thing I've heard in months.

Today is Columbus Day in the US, or as more liberal areas have renamed it, Indigenous People’s Day. Thing is, 99.9% of Americans don’t actually do anything to celebrate Columbus or the conquest – or even think about it. It’s just a random day off. Of all the holidays this is the one that should be dropped and then replaced with Election Day (first Tuesday of November) as a paid day off.
