I am pretty much a web pack-rat, things I find on the web that are exceptionally funny, profound (the smallest category), or beautiful I tend to save--and then, of course have to sort and toss after a while. It dawned on me that posting some of the lovely/interesting images I've collected would make for some good posts.
So let me inaugurate this theme with some of the very favorite photos I've taken. On August 19, 2020 DC was inundated with a thick, long-lasting fog--btw I LOVE a good fog. We get a really good one a couple times a year here. I had the good sense and opportunity (it was during Covid so there was no one around) to go down to the Potomac and take pictures around the Wilson Bridge/Jones Point area. Hope you'll enjoy!
This is Jones Point and the old river lighthouse. This was the southern point of the original District of Columbia, which was diamond shaped. David and I got married here (standing above the old boundary marker, as it happened) on a much sunnier day in 2015.
I too love a good fog. These photos are gems.
ReplyDeleteFog makes everything look so mysterious!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the old building in the fog; eerie, yet peaceful.
ReplyDeleteYour post reminds me of Carl Sandburg's poem:
ReplyDeleteThe fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

DeleteWe need to remember to go out on foggy mornings.

DeleteBeautiful photo of the heron's nest.
ReplyDeleteFog = YUCK to the nth+1 exponent. Coastal fog = Pass; Tule Fog = HARD PASS.

Thanks, and I've never heard such a vehement reaction to fog before 🤔.
DeleteI often find fog to be a bit spooky!
ReplyDeleteThat's part of the attraction
DeleteI especially like Picture 5 with the sharpness to the right and the fogginess to the left.
ReplyDelete😊 That's my favo(u)rite as well.
