Environmental Concerns

We here in Fairfax County are merciless when it comes to invasive species...

If you see an adult spotted lanternfly, take a photo, kill it, and report it to the Grounds Committee. At least one resident has spotted this bug. Fairfax County advises residents who encounter spotted lantern-flies to “squash, stomp and smash on sight.”

  2. Smash them for sure. They are pretty and colorful.

    1. Hey, I'm pretty and colorful too. Do I need to be afraid?

  3. I feel the same way with scorpions although in fairness they are not an invasive species but I am.

  4. When we walked around downtown Cleveland last summer, squished spotted lantern flies were all over the sidewalks everywhere we walked. I squished a few, too.
